I don’t know how lost I was in my own empty space that I missed the launch, the success of ‘Breathing Under Water‘ and the phenomenal return of Karsh Kale with another favorite of mine, Anoushka Shankar. This is a co-produced album that in my opinion returns Kale to his roots. Tracks like Sea Dreamer feat. Sting and they bring in the grand-daddy of sitar, Pandit Ravi Shankar for Oceanic Pt. 1 & 2.

Not to be left out, Karsh’s favorite and a great voice of his own - Vishal Vaid. ‘Abyss’ stands out as the track and is one of those evergreens that will be on my playlist for a long time.

All of these stories pass through time
All these verses and rhymes
All these heroes and crimes
changing water into wine

  • Midival’s Vande Mataram

    Download link

There’s something about Vande Mataram as a poem, a song or just the two words by themselves. But this album - Vande Mataram - An Electronic Exploration just blew my mind. That sample should prove that you guys ought to grab it. The link is for Virgin Digital, but I am sure there are other places you can pick it up as well.

  • Whoa! Nelly

    message in the lights

I was lucky enough to enjoy the Nelly Furtado concert at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto with my best friend. The lights started going crazy right before she came on and I had to take a time lapse photo of it. I wish I could have held it steadier, but it had to do.

  • Mute Math - Typical

This is such an awesome song. The lyrics really connect and the video was done in all reverse and then reversed in edit to show a real unique final product.

Come on, can I dream for one day?
There’s nothing that can’t be done
But how long should it take somebody
    Before they can be someone

Cuz I know there’s got to be another level
Somewhere closer to the other side
And I’m feelin’ like it’s now or never
Can I break the spell of the typical?

Now I’ve lived through my share of misfortune
And I’ve worked in the blazing sun
But how long should it take somebody
    Before they can be someone

Cuz I know there’s got to be another level
Somewhere closer to the other side
And I’m feelin’ like it’s now or never
Can I break the spell of the typical?

    I’m the typical
    I’m the typical
Can I break the spell of the typical?

    Because it’s draggin’ me down
Oh, I’d like to know about when
When does it all turn around?

Yeah I know there’s got to be another level
Somewhere closer to the other side
And I’m feelin’ like it’s now or never
Can I break the spell of the typical?

Break the spell (of the typical)
Break the spell (of the typical)
Can I break the spell of the typical?

  • Midivial Punditz - Khayaal

    khayyal-sam.mp3

I love this song so much that I wrote the lyrics down. Also got you guys a small taste of this instant classic. Vishal Vaid, Karsh Kale and the Punditz have done it again!

    Kab khayaal aapka nahi hota
    Dard-e-dil se juda nahi hota

    Haal-e-dil kis tarah likhoon unko
Haath dil se juda nahi hota

Dil ne kuch unse keh diya hoga
    Bevajah woh khafa nahi hota

Woh khafa hotein hain to hone do
Woh kisi ka khuda nahi hota

    Kab khayaal aapka nahi hota

    Khayaal - Midivial Punditz
